A book of twenty circular walks in the stunning countryside of the Tuscany Umbria border. All the walks have been researched by Martin Daykin and updated in 2011 ready for this 2012 edition. The 2012 edition contains several new walks not included in the print editions and several of the old walks have been left out. Martin Daykin has lived and walked on the Tuscany Umbria border since 1999 and this book contains some of the finest walking routes in the area.
The walks are are located in an area between Cortona, Lake Trasimeno, Perugia, Gubbio and Città di Castello. This area has a lot to offer the walker; beautiful landscapes of wooded hillsides dotted with olive groves, vineyards, castles, hill towns, farmhouses (both ruined and restored). From panoramic ridges, views stretch across to the Appenine peaks and Lake Trasimeno, Italy’s fourth largest lake, often forms a backdrop to the picturesque scenery.
The walks have detailed instructions, walking times, distances and GPS co-ordinates. With its up to date routes and Martin’s long experience of writing instructions, you are unlikely to get lost. With the exception of one walk between train stations, the circular routes mean that you don’t have to rely on infrequent public transport to get back at the end of the day.
This is the essential walking guide for the visitor to the Tuscany Umbria border and northern Umbria.
