London is a city of exclusion. Massive superstructures fatten the skyline of the city proper, but the corruption and apathy of its people have turned the Outskirts into a no man’s land of poverty, crime and fear. Few survive there, only squatters and illegals — those who have no other choice—all are hunted. The people of the city do not care for them.

No one cares as corporate militia, under the command of the ruthless cyborg Nikolas Hurn, murder Faraji’s father in the night and burn their squat to the ground. The boy and his mother barely escape through the abandoned tube system into the inner city, where they must find their way, escape their pursuers, and soften the hard heart of the metropolis.
